Orton-Gillingham
Resilience Reading Instruction

Heart of Synergy uses the Orton-Gillingham research-based reading intervention to help students learn to read through a multi-sensory, direct, explicit, sequential, and systematic instructional approach. Our teachers are trained in Orton-Gillingham Comprehensive (Grades K-2) and Intermediate (Grades 3-5) through the Institute of Multisensory Education (IMSE).

Students will learn and refine their reading skill sets in the following areas:

  • Phonological Awareness

  • Phonics

  • Word Recognition

  • Fluency

  • Vocabulary

  • Comprehension

  • Morphology

  • Syllable Division Patterns/Types

  • Encoding/Decoding

  • Spelling Rules

Heart of Synergy has developed a resilience reading process. The process teaches students to access heart coherence before their reading session begins. The heart coherence techniques scientifically enhance students’ memory, focus, and academic performance and help self-regulate depleting emotions they may experience while reading. Students enjoy implementing these strategies using biometric technology because they can see the techniques working in the moment. Many students with various learning needs have reported an increase in their ability to learn and maintain attention during reading instruction when prepping with heart coherence.
