Building Personal Resilienceâ„¢

With HeartMath® Certified Mentors in the Building Personal Resilienceâ„¢ program and HeartMath® Practitioners with clinical backgrounds we offer  6-8 sessions teaching school-aged children simple scientific research-based techniques to stop obvious and subtle energy drains (stress, anxiety, frustration, loneliness, etc.). They will learn how to transform depleting emotions into renewing energy and build personal resilience - the ability to prepare, recover, make wise decisions, and adapt in the face of stress or challenge.

During personal resilience sessions, students will learn and practice techniques to build social and emotional learning (self-management, self-awareness, emotional regulation, social awareness, relationship skills, communication skills, and decision making). Students will accomplish this by learning about the connection between the heart and brain, reading short articles/studies, watching 5-7 min scenario-based videos, completing activities, completing weekly exercises, journaling experiences, and practicing/applying heart coherence techniques with fidelity, changing input messages sent to their brain.

Students will also learn the science behind heart coherence techniques. They will learn how frequent depleting thoughts, emotions, and attitudes establish fixed neural patterns causing an unwanted physiological, emotional, and behavioral baseline. This baseline creates fixed neural patterns which produce unconscious and unwanted actions to transpire. Students will learn how to reset those unwanted neural patterns with healthier ones by habitually activating and sustaining heart coherence.
